If your puppy never gets past her fear of the vacuum and continues to parry with it, make sure that you keep her confined to a safe area when you vacuum. A dog lunging at a moving vacuum can be dangerous, especially if the dog is as small as a Yorkie, who can easily get a paw caught.

Never ever, ever chase a puppy with a vacuum or a vacuum cleaner attachment. A puppy who runs for her life and then turns to attack isn’t cute — she’s terrified. You can play all sorts of games with your Yorkie (head to Chapter 9 for some ideas), but Chase the Doggy with the Vacuum isn’t one of them.
